Flag Football Recap: Corona Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Corona can now relate to. They were just a hair shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 19-18 to the Temecula Valley Golden Bears. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Corona's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Liaga, who picked up 124 receiving yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 66 yards.

Corona now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Temecula Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season.

Corona does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Temecula Valley, they will face off against St. Mary's Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Belles' defense has only allowed 9.3 points per game this season, so the Golden Bears' offense will have their work cut out for them.
