Football Recap: Elm Creek Starts Season with Win at Home

Elm Creek gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Pleasanton Bulldogs by a score of 30-19. This was payback for the Buffaloes, who suffered a 45-20 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elm Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kole Steiner, who rushed for 112 yards and three TDs. Those 112 rushing yards gave Steiner a new career-high. Keston Beavers also helped out as he racked up 151 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Elm Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 361 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasanton only rushed for 98 rushing yards.

Despite the loss, Pleasanton still got an impressive performance from Brennan Lindner, who threw for 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 70 yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Elm Creek will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ravenna at 7:00 p.m. As for Pleasanton, they will head out to face off against Alma at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
