Softball Game Preview: Alpha Omega Academy Lions vs. O'Connell Buccaneers

The Alpha Omega Academy Lions will square off against the O'Connell Buccaneers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Alpha Omega Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against St. Joseph Catholic on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 9-5 to the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for O'Connell's offense. They lost 15-0 to St. Joseph Catholic on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 26 runs in the game before, the Buccaneers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Alpha Omega Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11-1 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. O'Connell's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Alpha Omega Academy took their win against O'Connell when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 17-0. Will Alpha Omega Academy repeat their success, or does O'Connell has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
