Softball Recap: Gallatin County's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Gallatin County dropped their record down to 18-13 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Bishop Brossart Mustangs by a score of 3-1. The Wildcats were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the four games prior), but the Mustangs' pitchers proved too tough.

Gallatin County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Runyon, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for Bishop Brossart, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-11 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 16th.

On Bishop Brossart's side, Anna Bezold spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gallatin County will take on Walton-Verona at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.24 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bishop Brossart, they will square off against Boone County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
