Basketball Game Preview: Sammamish RedHawks vs. Redmond Mustangs

The Sammamish RedHawks will head out to face off against the Redmond Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sammamish knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Redmond likes a good challenge.

Sammamish will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Mercer Island, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Sammamish sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-56 win over Mercer Island on Friday.

Sammamish's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Barry Morrissette, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 20 rebounds, and Rakin Showki, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Morrissette a new career-high in points. Anthony Boddie was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Redmond unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Creek. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Jaguars are ranked 132nd).

Sammamish's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Redmond, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.

Sammamish lost to Redmond on the road by a decisive 71-57 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Sammamish avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
