Softball Recap: Skyline Now 13-2 over Last 15 Games

Lake Stevens typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Skyline proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Abby Haapala spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Dahlgren, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Nazli Chavez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Skyline has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Lake Stevens, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.

Skyline has already played their next match (against North Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lake Stevens does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
