Basketball Recap: Lawrence County Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Lawrence County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Columbia Wildcats on Tuesday, sneaking past 45-42. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was K'Lila Sellers, who posted six points in addition to nine steals and seven rebounds. Those nine steals gave Sellers a new career-high. Sariya Robinson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards.

Lawrence County pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence County will host Magee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Columbia, they will face off against Purvis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbia is facing Purvis at the right time seeing as Purvis is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
