Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville's Winning Streak

Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville dropped their record down to 3-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cobleskill-Richmondville Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Wolves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Hayes, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Hayes has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

As for Cobleskill-Richmondville, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games.

On Cobleskill-Richmondville's side, Ryleigh Briggs and Danica Palmer did most of the damage at the plate: Briggs went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Palmer went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Palmer has hit this season.

Coming up, Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville will take on Middleburgh at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cobleskill-Richmondville, they will challenge Fort Plain at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
