Basketball Game Preview: St. Charles Fighting Saints vs. Spring Grove Lions

The St. Charles Fighting Saints and the Spring Grove Lions will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Charles has nine straight victories, Spring Grove has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. Charles beat Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 67-63. Given the Fighting Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Spring Grove ended up a good deal behind Houston on Friday and lost 56-40.

St. Charles pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Spring Grove, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
