Softball Recap: Park Tudor Panthers vs. Liberty Christian Lions
Park Tudor extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They came up short against the Liberty Christian Lions, falling 18-6. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
As for Liberty Christian, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-10. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
For Liberty Christian's part, Ellie Callahan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, Callahan is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two triples, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Claire Callahan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Addie Novakoski was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Park Tudor will take on Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Liberty Christian, they will square off against Marion at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Giants at the right time seeing as the Giants are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
