Softball Recap: Mercy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Mercy had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 12-10 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They never let the Elizabethtown Panthers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since April 15th.

Not much got past Olivia Colebank, who gave up just six hits to keep Elizabethtown off the board. Colebank has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mercy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Allie Streble, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Elizabethtown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 18, 2024.

On Elizabethtown's side, Taytum Spiers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

Coming up, Mercy will challenge Bullitt East at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Elizabethtown, they will square off against John Hardin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
