Recap: Bisbee Pumas vs. Pima Roughriders
The Bisbee Pumas suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Pima, falling 67-34. Bisbee has struggled against Pima recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Bisbee saw an underclassman step up: Alyssa Lopez scored 19 points. Lopez is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Solis, who scored three points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Pima's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ady Hoopes led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hoopes has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Sadie Richardson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Bisbee has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Pima, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bisbee will take on Willcox at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Willcox is ranked 202nd, while Bisbee is ranked 214th). As for Pima, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Thatcher at 5:30 p.m. Thatcher will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
