Softball Game Preview: Paetow Panthers vs. Katy Tigers

Paetow is 0-4 against Katy since March of 2023 but things could change on Saturday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Paetow Panthers challenge Katy Tigers at 1:30 p.m. Paetow is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Paetow came up short against Seven Lakes and fell 7-4. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

ABIGAIL MARTINAK spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Paetow saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was LILIANA RODRIGUEZ, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Paetow hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matchups.

Jordan typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Katy proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 15 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The win (which was Katy's third in a row) raised their record to 20-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Paetow, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Paetow might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Katy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Paetow avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
