Football Game Preview: United Longhorns vs. United South Panthers

For the first time this season, United will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to face off against the United South Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in United's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

United gave up the first points last Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Weslaco by a score of 40-30. The Longhorns' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

A big part of United's win came down to the chemistry between Jorge Luna and his top target Colt Lozano. Luna threw for 310 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt while Lozano picked up 146 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Those four receiving touchdowns gave Lozano a new career-high. A healthy portion of Luna's aerial production (100 yards to be exact) also went to Jesse Garcia-Perez.

Meanwhile, United South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 23-16 to Alexander.

United South's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for United, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Everything went United's way against United South in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as United made off with a 44-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
