Recap: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Corydon Central Panthers

The Floyd Central Highlanders fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Corydon Central Panthers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 68-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (64), Floyd Central still had to take the loss.

Floyd Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Conrad, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 20 rebounds. Those 20 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Rushing, who scored 20 points along with three steals.

Floyd Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Corydon Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Floyd Central will take on Jeffersonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jeffersonville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Floyd Central likes a good challenge. As for Corydon Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clarksville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarksville is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
