Softball Recap: Tohono O'Odham Takes a Loss

Tohono O'Odham extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They came up short against the Sequoia Charter Stallions, falling 22-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

As for Sequoia Charter, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-4. Considering they have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Sequoia Charter's part, Naomi Sams made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Sams has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reyna Chavez, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Maddison Osif was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As of now, neither Tohono O'Odham nor Sequoia Charter have any future games scheduled.
