Preview: Steilacoom vs. Evergreen
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Steilacoom. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Evergreen at 7:00 PM. Steilacoom have yet to lose; Evergreen, on the other hand, are desperate for their first victory.
Steilacoom put the finishing touches on their 3rd blowout victory of the season last Friday. They were fully in charge, breezing past Highline 64-14. Senior JJ Lemming, who passed for 275 yards and 4 touchdowns, was a major factor in Steilacoom's success. Lemming has been a consistent playmaker for Steilacoom as this was the 5th good game in a row from him.
Meanwhile, there's no need to mince words: Evergreen lost to River Ridge, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 0-50. Evergreen were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-43.
Steilacoom's win lifted them to 5-0 while Evergreen's defeat dropped them down to 0-5. Evergreen's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Steilacoom defensive front that amassed four sacks against Highline, so we'll see if they are up to the task.
