Softball Recap: Northwood Takes a Loss

Northwood had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it four. They lost 19-4 to the Pinecrest Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-7 back in March.

Makenna Lux made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

As for Pinecrest, they moved to 5-15 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Pinecrest's side, they got a massive performance out of Emily Hatcher, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Hatcher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaiya Todd, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Northwood will square off against Chatham Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for Pinecrest, they will challenge Cary at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
