Baseball Game Preview: Peoria Lions vs. Danville Vikings

Peoria hasn't had much luck against Danville recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lions will face off against the Vikings at 3:59 p.m. Peoria has given up an average of 21.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Peoria is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 22nd straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They lost 18-5 to Urbana. On the bright side, the five- run performance marked the Lions' highest-scoring contest to date.

Stlyz Drummond put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Jamar Seidel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Danville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 25th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Schlarman. Even if the Vikings couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Peoria's record is now 0-10. As for Danville, their record now sits at 0-12.

Peoria might still be hurting after the 20-0 loss they got from Danville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
