Baseball Recap: Maricopa Comes Up Short

Maricopa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mountain Pointe Pride.

Patrick Pettis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season. Will Hawkins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Maricopa's record is now 6-13. As for Mountain Pointe, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-14.

Looking ahead, Maricopa will venture away from home to square off against Flowing Wells at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams are facing the Caballeros at the right time seeing as the Caballeros are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Mountain Pointe, they will be playing at home against Horizon at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
