Volleyball Recap: Marathon Has No Trouble Against Pacelli

Marathon barely beat Pacelli the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Red Raiders put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday.

The win didn't come easy: Pacelli scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-22.

Among those leading the charge was Leah Dodson, who had nine digs and one assist. Those nine digs gave her a new career-high.

Pacelli lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Annie Vaughan, who had 29 digs and two assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton Zdroik, who had 12 digs and three aces.

Marathon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season. As for Pacelli, their loss dropped their record down to 12-17.

Marathon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Prentice on the 14th. As for Pacelli, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Port Edwards on the 14th.
