Basketball Recap: Concord Academy Piles Up the Points Against Cannon

A well-balanced attack led Concord Academy over Cannon in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Eagles blew the Cougars out of the water with an 80-37 final score. The Eagles' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Concord Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was James Minlend out in front who shot 64% from the field on his way to 19 points. That's the most points Minlend has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Raper, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 18 points and six rebounds.

Concord Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon only racked up four.

Cannon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braylen Weaks, who scored six points. DJ Rogers was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Concord Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Cannon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Concord Academy will host Carmel Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cannon, they will head out on the road to take on Gaston Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
