Softball Recap: Shiprock Takes a Loss

Shiprock made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Hozho Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chieftains fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 13-11 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Chieftains have suffered since March 19, 2025.

Peyton Riggs made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Aleah Kenneth was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Shiprock has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Hozho Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

Shiprock didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-0 defeat against Bloomfield on the 10th. As for Hozho Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-8 loss against Navajo Prep on the 11th.
