Football Recap: La Canada Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

La Canada had won two straight games and Gretchen Louie did her part to make it three on Monday. The Spartans enjoyed a cozy 52-33 victory over the Monrovia Wildcats with plenty of help from Louie, who rushed for 71 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 197 yards and three TDs. She has become a key player for La Canada: the team is undefeated when she posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

La Canada didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaden May and Violet Waugh. May is on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. She got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

La Canada's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Monrovia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, La Canada and Monrovia will both be playing San Marino the next time they take the field. The Spartans will host the Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
