Softball Recap: Russell County Comes Up Short

Russell County lost against Wayne County back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lakers fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 9-8. The Lakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rylen McGowan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Mallie McQueary was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Russell County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-15-1. As for Wayne County, the victory got them back to even at 10-10-1.

Coming up, Russell County will head out on the road to challenge Somerset at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wayne County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
