Soccer Game Preview: Osbourn vs. Battlefield

Osbourn is 1-9 against Battlefield since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Eagles will challenge the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Osbourn has given up an average of 5 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Osbourn fell victim to Woodbridge and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Vikings. While losing is never fun, Osbourn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Woodbridge are ranked 97th).

Freedom typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Battlefield proved too difficult a challenge. They won by a goal and slipped past the Eagles 2-1. The game was the first time Battlefield have beaten Freedom on their pitch since April 20, 2023.

Battlefield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those six contests. As for Osbourn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6-1.

Osbourn suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Battlefield in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
