Softball Recap: Summerville Takes a Loss

Summerville fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Big Valley Christian on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 6-5. The Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Madelyn Nikiforuk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Summerville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kiersten Lutz, who scored a run while going 1-for-5.

Summerville's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Big Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Summerville will square off against rival Riverbank at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Big Valley Christian is set to face off against their familiar foe Linden at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
