Baseball Game Preview: Liberal Redskins vs. Great Bend Panthers

Liberal is 1-9 against Great Bend since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Redskins will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers.

Liberal fell victim to Eisenhower and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Redskins were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Great Bend posted their closest win since April 26, 2025 on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Dodge City 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Red Demons: they've now won six in a row.

Koehn Ribordy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Ribordy wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Wondra, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Great Bend now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Liberal, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Liberal couldn't quite finish off Great Bend when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
