Softball Game Preview: Northview Vikings vs. Covina Colts

For the second straight game, Northview will face off against Covina. The Vikings will head out on the road to take on the Colts at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Northview took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Covina get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Vikings not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd.

The result came thanks to Clementina Duran's shutout, as she gave up just six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joy Sanchez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Marilyn Sandoval was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Northview pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Covina, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-8-1.
