Winchester Community hasn't had much luck against Centerville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Golden Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Winchester Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Winchester Community came into this matchup off a tough nine-run defeat on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Bluffton by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 14, 2019, but that streak is no more.
Aviana Ramos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Centerville entered their tilt with Cambridge City Lincoln on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Golden Eagles 8-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Madi Yount was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Day, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.
Centerville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 10-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Centerville's record now sits at 12-7. As for Winchester Community, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Winchester Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Centerville struggles in that department as they've averaged .393. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
