Basketball Game Preview: South County Stallions vs. West Springfield Spartans

The South County Stallions will face off against the West Springfield Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with South County sitting on seven straight victories and West Springfield on three.

South County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Robinson, who was ranked 23rd at the time (South County was ranked 20th). South County simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Robinson 49-21. The Stallions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but West Springfield had no problem doing just that on Monday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 54-21 win over the Majors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Spartans have posted since December 13, 2024.

South County pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points over those games. As for West Springfield, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

South County took their win against West Springfield in their previous matchup on February 4th by a conclusive 55-35. Does South County have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Springfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
