Basketball Recap: Greene's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Greene won the last time they faced Unadilla Valley and things went their way on Saturday too. The Greene Trojans were the clear victor by a 51-29 margin over the Unadilla Valley Storm. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Greene's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abby Yahner led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Yahner a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Flanagan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.

The win (which was Greene's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. As for Unadilla Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Greene and Unadilla Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. Greene (ranked 86th) will meet Unatego (ranked 15th) at 7:15 p.m. on January 8th. Meanwhile, Unadilla Valley (ranked 314th) will meet Bainbridge-Guilford (ranked 125th) at 7:15 p.m. on January 10th.
