Basketball Recap: Socastee Falls Short of Goose Creek in the Playoffs

Socastee and Goose Creek squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Socastee had to settle for second. They took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Goose Creek Gators. While the Braves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Gators 13-9 in the first quarter.

Socastee's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Minehart, who to rack up 14 points. Another player making a difference was Trinity Sumpter, who posted six points and 12 rebounds.

Goose Creek was led to victory by Madeline Dates and Celeste Griffin. Dates en route to 14 points, while Griffin scored 12 points.

Socastee's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Goose Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-10.

Socastee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Goose Creek, they will square off against Berkeley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berkeley will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Goose Creek surely won't give up without a fight.
