Basketball Game Preview: University Trailblazers vs. Manchester Squires

The University Trailblazers will square off against the Manchester Squires at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with University sitting on seven straight wins and Manchester on eight.

University is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They snuck past Parke Heritage with a 53-47 victory.

University relied on the efforts of Blake Gray, who shot 70% from the field en route to 19 points, and Joshua Henderson, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points and six boards. That's the most points Gray has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cooper Cammack, who scored six points.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Manchester sidestepped 21st Century Charter for a 53-50 win.

University better keep an eye on Gavin Betten. He was instrumental in Manchester's win, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Betten's big performance that evening made it 23 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hendrix, who had 16 points along with six assists and five boards.

Manchester's victory bumped their record up to 26-2. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 20-9.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. University hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59 points per game. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 67.6 points.
