There's no place like home for Monterey Trail, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Laguna Creek Cardinals by a score of 6-2 on Friday. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Aliyah Ewing, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Monterey Trail's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-9. As for Laguna Creek, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Monterey Trail will challenge Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Laguna Creek, they will square off against Vanden at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight.
