Basketball Recap: Newman Takes a Loss

Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Assumption Royals and fell 78-11. The matchup marked the Fighting Cardinals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Newman's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Assumption, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newman has already played their next contest (against Spencer), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Assumption will venture away from home to face off against Edgar at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Assumption knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Edgar likes a good challenge.
