Softball Recap: Juneau-Douglas Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bettye Davis East Anchorage

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Juneau-Douglas walked away with it. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Bettye Davis East Anchorage Thunderbirds on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Crimson Bears: when they faced off against the Thunderbirds back in May, they had to take a 6-1 loss.

The team relied heavily on Tatum Billings, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alayna Echiverri was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Juneau-Douglas is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-15-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Bettye Davis East Anchorage, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4.

Looking ahead, Juneau-Douglas will take on Colony at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Crimson Bears surely won't give up without a fight. Bettye Davis East Anchorage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
