Recap: Sunray Bobcats vs. Tulia Hornets

The Sunray Bobcats couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-28 walloping at the hands of Tulia on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sunray in their matchups with Tulia: they've now lost five in a row.

Tulia found their leader in underclassman Logan Becerra, who scored 20 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Becerra has scored at least 25% of Tulia's points. Another player making a difference was Zaiden Jalomo, who scored 11 points along with nine assists.

Sunray's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Tulia, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunray will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Texas at 8:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. Tulia won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Farwell at 3:30 p.m. on December 20th. Farwell is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
