Baseball Recap: Charter Oak Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Charter Oak, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the La Serna Lancers on Saturday, sneaking past 9-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chargers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.

Brian Aceves tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits.

On the hitting side, Charter Oak let Michael Zubia and Vincent Carrillo run wild. Zubia scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Carrillo scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Carrillo a new career-high in RBI (three).

Charter Oak was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Serna only posted a batting average of .267.

Charter Oak's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for La Serna, they now also have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Charter Oak will head out to take on Kaiser at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for La Serna, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Northview at 2:45 p.m. La Serna is facing Northview at the right time seeing as Northview is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
