Basketball Recap: Abby Mesler Key Part of Team Effort in Lions Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sound Christian had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 38-23 victory over the Providence Classical Christian Highlanders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-27 back in January.

Sound Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abby Mesler, who posted 17 points and seven steals. Mesler has become a key player for Sound Christian: the team is 10-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kaila Brogan, who put up 14 points and five rebounds.

Sound Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Providence Classical Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crosspoint Christian will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Sound Christian surely won't give up without a fight. Providence Classical Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
