Baseball Game Preview: Big Valley Christian Lions vs. Bret Harte Bullfrogs

Alex Avila was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Hayden Degnan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bret Harte's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Big Valley Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster.
