Basketball Recap: Thomas Heyward Academy Comes Up Short

Thomas Heyward Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks and fell 53-26. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the War Hawks are ranked 107th).

Marlie Needham was Thomas Heyward Academy's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Natalie Amason held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.

Thomas Heyward Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Colleton Prep Academy, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3.

Thomas Heyward Academy will face off against Cross at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Colleton Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Orangeburg Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
