Basketball Recap: Alex Parastaran Key Part of a Team Effort in Maroons Win

There's no place like home for Champaign Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 58-50 win over the Rantoul Eagles on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Maroons also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Champaign Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Parastaran, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists. Parastaran has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Samara McArthur, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Champaign Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Champaign Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Rantoul, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-12.

Champaign Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-19 win against Danville on the 19th. As for Rantoul, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-44 loss against Paxton-Buckley-Loda on the 19th.
