Baseball Recap: Bruton Comes Up Short

Bruton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 9-4 to the Smithfield Packers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Packers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in March.

Bruton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vladimir Hunter, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases. Hayden Zimmerman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Bruton's record now sits at 1-12. As for Smithfield, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-8.
