Basketball Recap: Jenkintown Takes a Loss

Jenkintown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-44 heartbreaker at the hands of The Christian Academy. If the Drakes were looking for revenge after losing 60-51 to The Christian Academy when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Jenkintown saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Manny Bowens went 7-for-12 on his way to 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Bowens. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Ecker, who posted eight points and five steals.

Jenkintown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for The Christian Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3.

Jenkintown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-61 win against Morrisville on the 17th. As for The Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-18 loss against Faith Christian Academy on the 17th.
