Basketball Recap: Freeport Find Success

Freeport hadn't done well against Holmes County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Freeport Bulldogs escaped with a win against the Holmes County Blue Devils by the margin of a single free throw, 56-55. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Leading Freeport to victory were Julius Miles and Dameyan Martin. Miles dropped a double-double on 26 points and 16 boards, while Martin went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Miles has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Javaughn Voss, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Freeport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Freeport is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Holmes County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Freeport will challenge Laurel Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Freeport knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Laurel Hill likes a good challenge. As for Holmes County, they will head out to take on Bethlehem at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
