North Stanly triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Shalyn Bell

The North Stanly Comets can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 68-44 margin over Gray Stone Day. Given North Stanly's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Gray Stone Day is ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Shalyn Bell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. Bell is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. Giavonna Dunlap was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five steals.

North Stanly's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Gray Stone Day, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

North Stanly will be playing in front of their home fans against South Stanly at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Stanly is coming into the match with seven straight defeats on the road, meaning North Stanly will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Gray Stone Day, they will square off against Union Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Academy is facing Gray Stone Day at the right time seeing as Gray Stone Day is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
