Basketball Game Preview: Alleghany Cougars vs. Floyd County Buffaloes

The Alleghany Cougars just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Floyd County Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alleghany will be strutting in after a victory while Floyd County will be coming in after a defeat.

Alleghany took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They managed a 45-41 win over Radford. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Floyd County's game on Monday was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to James River. The loss continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost three in a row.

Alleghany's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points over those games. As for Floyd County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Alleghany skirted past Floyd County 45-42 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alleghany since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
