Softball Recap: Murray Takes a Loss

After flying high against Dawson Springs on Thursday, Murray came back down to earth. The Tigers lost 13-2 to the Crittenden County Rockets on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in March.

Mayla Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Murray's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Crittenden County, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-11 record.

Looking ahead, Murray is taking a road trip to face off against Carlisle County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Crittenden County, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Madisonville-North Hopkins at 2:00 p.m. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Maroons have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
