Basketball Recap: Durham Academy Comes Up Short

Durham Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 49-32 to the Ravenscroft Ravens. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 47-29 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Ravenscroft was led to victory by Ellie Cronin and Emily Virag. Cronin went 8 of 16 en route to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, while Virag went 5 for 12 on her way to 15 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Virag a new career-high. Courtney Carter was another key player, putting up eight points.

Durham Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Ravenscroft, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season.

Durham Academy has already played their next contest, a 40-38 win against Cary Academy on the 31st. As for Ravenscroft, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-39 loss against Grace Christian on the 31st.
